Seymour Heights is ideally located for exploring the beautiful North Devon coastline home to some of the country’s best beaches. Just down the hill from Seymour Heights is Woolacombe, a pretty seaside resort with an award-winning beach that is almost three miles long and ideal for a number of water based sports such as surfing, stand-up paddle boarding and wind-surfing. Lessons for several water sports can be arranged locally, with the likes of Nick Thorne providing surfing lessons to all ages and abilities. Equipment can also be hired near the beach or in nearby shops.
Woolacombe beach, which is patrolled by lifeguards from Easter through to the end of the October half term week is neighboured by Barricane Beach, a pretty, sheltered cove that is also good for surfing but is very popular with families. During the summer, watch the sunset at Barricane beach as you enjoy a curry from the beach cafe - all you need to bring is a blanket and a bottle of wine.
Other local beaches within easy reach are Croyde, a favourite with surfers, as well as families and Saunton Sands, which is backed by the famous Braunton Burrows, a Site of Special Scientific Interest. These beaches can be accessed via road or the South West Coast Path. They are patrolled by lifeguards during the busy months and have ample car parking nearby.
